W6YL gives students opportunities to learn amateur radio through hands-on projects and on-air activities.

Activities may include:

• Operating the W6YL amateur radio station
• Antenna projects and testing
• Radio programming and configuration
• Amateur radio contests
• Weekly radio nets
• Licensing and operating practice
• Digital communications
• Station and repeater maintenance
